Currahee Club near Toccoa, GA, may not have a large number or residents yet, but that isn't stopping it from holding special events a few times each week. Here's a rundown of what's on tap the rest of May:
• Four artists will display their works on May 8 in the Currahee clubhouse.
• May 8 & 9 will find Currahee golfers engaging in a "Battle of the Border" against, respectively, The Cliffs at Keowee Springs and The Reserve at Lake Keowee.
• Like many golf communities, Currahee will host a Mother's Day brunch on Sunday May 10, with seatings at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. In addition to Cream of Asparagus soup and a range of salads, entrees will feature fried chicken, salmon with lemon cilantro butter sauce, shrimp and grits and some tasty vegetable dishes. An omelet and waffle station will be available, as will four different desserts.
• Trivia Night will be held in the Fazio Pub the evening of May 14.
• Anne Hurley hosts a farm to table luncheon at nearby Blackhawk Farm on the Soque River. Later that evening back at Currahee, fellow resident and musician Dr. Jim Wade will entertain (and again in June).
• A two-hour tennis clinic is on tap for May 16. Later that night, the Overlook Dining Room will play host to "Prime Rib Night."
• If bowling is right up your alley, Bowling Night is May 20.
• Memorial Day kickoff is slated for May 23 at noon.
