A successful local farm family initially developed River Landing in 1996, and have continued to invest in the golf courses and infrastructure even through the recession. The community is just a driver and seven-iron from a major interstate that links two of the Southeast’s most impressive cities, Raleigh and Wilmington. Raleigh, an easy hour’s drive away, features everything you would expect from a major city, including an airport hub that links the area to the rest of the world and a major league hockey team. Wilmington features an active downtown with great restaurants and the nearby Wrightsville Beach. River Landing residents can get to Wrightsville within 45 minutes.
Not that there is any great reason to leave River Landing. The community’s two golf courses, The River and The Landing, are ranked Top 50 statewide by the North Carolina State Golf Rating Panel; and the 60,000 square foot Craftsman-styled clubhouse is one of the most comprehensive we have encountered. The 17,000 square foot fitness center, in a building next to three lighted tennis courts, is loaded with the latest equipment and well used by the community’s active residents. It also features a large indoor pool. Any community with “River” in its name is going to take advantage of the local waterway, and River Landing does just that, with lodge as a focal point for communal gatherings and barbecues beside the navigable river. Real estate prices are super reasonable, some resale homes selling for about $100 per square foot (land included). For those who might want to build their own dream home at River Landing, lots start around $20,000, with some special beauties listed from $50,000. Just 50 minutes from the intersection of I-95 and I-40, River Landing could be the perfect landing place for couples from the northeast and upper Midwest who will never be more than an easy day’s drive from their own families and friends back home.
