Pleasant prices at Mt. Pleasant, SC private club
Spring is the season for robins, daffodils and discounted golf memberships. I recently played the classic George Cobb golf course at Snee Farm Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, SC, a short ride over the bridge from Charleston. The golf course is walkable and fun, and a current membership special takes $500 off the customary reasonably priced initiation fee. For just $2,500 and a mere $275 per month in dues (for individual or couple), you receive unlimited golf on the private course, a $110 annual rate for use of the practice facilities, access to the swimming facilities and all the tournaments, social activities and events typical of a private club. Perhaps best of all, for no additional cost on the initiation fee, members can purchase a "dual" membership with Rivertowne Country Club, just a few miles closer to Charleston and home to a well-regarded Arnold Palmer layout in a community once developed by Bobby Ginn. The monthly fee increases to a modest $342 per month for unlimited play on both layouts. (Rivertowne is open to the public but charges high enough green fees to keep the riffraff out.)
