I stopped briefly yesterday at Lake of St. Catherine Golf Club in Poultney, VT, one of those little gems of a golf course you stumble on from time to time. I'll have more photos and words about the course in the next few days, but as I wandered around the holes adjacent to the attractive new clubhouse, I happened upon a trashcan that showed clear evidence of a badly played shot. For those of us of a certain age, it recalled Terrible Tommy Bolt, whose golf clubs were always in danger of a similar fate. Tommy either drowned them in the nearest lake or, if no body of water was nearby, he used his knee to pay them back for a bad shot.
I understand the impulse but can't afford new clubs.
