Changing face of private club membership, plus some culture in December newsletter

The December issue of our free newsletter, Home On The Course, has left the launching pad and was emailed to hundreds of our subscribers Sunday.  This latest monthly edition considers the changing face of private club membership in America, and how the survival instinct is kicking in with creative solutions to declining membership rolls and lost revenues.  Private clubs more and more will be opening their tee sheets to outside play while retaining some aura of exclusivity; it is already happening, and one "social networking" site is providing public course golfers with the opportunity to play some private clubs.  We also discuss a surprising new invention from the vaunted Cliffs Communities which may be a trendsetter for other upscale golf developments.

For those who haven’t had enough of Tiger references, we offer an upscale contribution -– a reprint of the famous poem by 18th Century poet and artist William Blake called “The Tiger” (actually spelled "The Tyger," as my college English major son pointed out to me) which opens with the famous line “Tiger, Tiger burning bright…” Although our own modern Tiger may have flamed out for now, the poem reminds us of what was, and what might have been.

Warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.
