According to an editorial in the Wall Street Journal today, electric golf cart manufacturers and salespeople are benefiting by the government's stimulus package. In some cases, the combined federal and state credits total almost the $8,000 cost of many golf carts.
"Is that about the coolest thing you've ever heard?" gushed one golf cart salesman in Oklahoma, according to the Journal.
Well, the Journal doesn't think it is very cool, saying the "golf cart fiasco perfectly illustrates tax policy in the age of Obama..." The Journal concludes: "If this keeps up, it'll soon make more sense to retire and play golf than work for a living."
Wait a minute. That's a bad thing?
